Kindergarten teacher finds Salvadoran family in sandwich.

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Theresa Petty was about to bite into an egg salad sandwich at a local deli when she heard faint Spanish whispering coming from the sandwich. Understanding how strange it may have seemed to everyone around her, she used what little Spanish she knew to try communicate with the sandwich. After asking it its name and hearing different voices calling out, she lifted the top layer of bread and was shocked to see 12 people hiding in the egg salad. “I’ve heard of people being smuggled into our country but I never knew they were coming in sandwiches”, said Theresa. When asked what happened to the family she said they were arrested by an off duty officer and taken away, but noted that if ever she orders a sandwich again she’ll always check to see if there’s anyone hiding inside.
